About the role

In this fast-moving environment and role, you will be the key driver of implementing new processes as required as our Indian business evolves.  You will be an expert in international business trading in India.   You will be a strategic & analytical thinker and need to have the experience and maturity to be able to communicate effectively to a broad range of people, think on your feet for the smooth-running of day-to-day Indian operations; be proactive, and strategic to support the future growth of our scale up business.

This role is currently part time (15 hours per week), however as the business evolves and grows so will the role, potentially going to full time.

Key responsibilities

  • Drive the business finances through Xero, so experience in Xero accounting software will be advantageous
  • Ensuring accurate and timely recording of transactions in compliance with the Accounting Standards
  • Process the day-to-day account deliverables, ensuring accuracy and efficiency, for supplier invoices, accounts payable
  • Converse with external providers to facilitate year-end tax returns and audit requirements as well as preparing annual financial statements
  • Complete bank reconciliations
  • Maintaining the fixed assets register
  • Preparing and submitting GST returns and TDS returns on time including liaising with external accountants
  • Arranging payments to do with GST and TDS liabilities on time
  • Deliver efficiencies through process and procedure improvements.
  • Attending to all company secretarial work and filing of all required forms, liaising with external accountants in relation to all company secretarial matters.


About you

  • Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Commerce or related disciplines; or equivalent relevant experience and / or significant experience in similar role.
  • Demonstrated experience in financial accounting role in a start-up or standalone role.
  • Knowledge of Indian Accounting Standards and relevant legislation and polices with an ability to interpret and apply standards and legislation requirements accordingly.
  • Working with stakeholders to ensure critical deadlines and deliverables are met. 
  • Experience in Xero is desirable.
  • Be self-motivated and well organised with strong time management skills.
  • Be a strategic and analytical thinker.
  • Ability to work as a part of a team or autonomously.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience with research & development tax rebate and other grants would be advantageous.
